Sport can have a powerful and positive influence on individuals, particularly children, young people, and vulnerable adults. It provides opportunities for enjoyment and achievement, and helps participants to develop valuable qualities such as self-esteem, leadership, and teamwork. These benefits are only realised when the sport is delivered in an environment where the welfare of all participants is prioritised, and when those responsible for delivery adopt practices that protect, support, and empower those in their care.
Mindsparx Karate & Kickboxing acknowledges that the welfare and safety of children, young people, and vulnerable adults is the responsibility of every individual involved in the organisation, whether in a paid or voluntary capacity. We are committed to promoting the highest standards of care by not only implementing appropriate safeguarding policies and procedures, but also by providing ongoing education, training, and support to all individuals working with these groups.
To ensure a safe and inclusive environment, Mindsparx Karate & Kickboxing undertakes the following responsibilities:
We adopt and implement safeguarding policies and procedures in line with recognised martial arts safeguarding guidance and national standards.
All staff, coaches, volunteers, and officials who work with children, young people, or vulnerable adults are required to complete safeguarding training, regardless of their role or status.
We provide access to continued professional development and resources that support the implementation of best practice in safeguarding.
We regularly monitor, review, and improve our safeguarding procedures to ensure that they remain current, effective, and compliant with legal and ethical standards.
The duty of care we hold extends not only to the children and young people who attend our classes, but also to the adults who support their development. By adhering to established safeguarding principles and complying with national guidance, we aim to reduce risk and ensure that every individual engaging with Mindsparx Karate has a safe, positive, and enriching experience.
Safeguarding involves the implementation of robust systems and procedures that enable children to participate in martial arts without risk of harm, abuse, violence, or neglect. This includes challenging unsafe norms, promoting awareness, and building a culture in which the best interests of the child are always central.
Mindsparx Karate & Kickboxing fully recognises its legal and moral responsibility to protect children and vulnerable adults who engage with our services. We remain committed to providing a safe space in which all individuals can learn, grow, and thrive.
